Instructions:

1. Selection and Characteristics of Welding Wires
The selection of this series of welding wires should be based on the composition of the base metal to be welded, and the same alloy system should be used. The composition of the welding wire should be as close as possible to (equal to or slightly higher than) that of the base metal. Differences in alloy systems have a significant impact on the properties of stainless steel (such as ductility, corrosion resistance, crack resistance, etc.), which should be paid attention to.
For MIG and TIG welding methods, pure argon (Ar) is mainly used as the shielding gas, which minimizes oxidation of the alloy in the molten pool and enables the welded joint to have extremely excellent comprehensive physical and chemical properties; however, this may reduce welding efficiency.
The properties of stainless steel depend largely on its composition. Differences in alloy systems have a huge impact on the properties of stainless steel (such as ductility, corrosion resistance, crack resistance, etc.), which should be noted.

 2. Welding Precautions
Ⅰ. MIG Welding (Power Polarity: DC+)
A. Shielding gas flow rate should be 15–25 L/min.
B. Arc length is generally controlled at 4–6 mm.
C. Wind has a particularly adverse effect on welding. When the wind speed exceeds 0.5 m/s, windproof measures should be taken. Pay attention to ventilation to avoid harm to operators.
D. Using pulsed arc current can achieve a stable spray arc, which is especially suitable for welding stainless steel, thin plates, vertical welding, and surfacing.
E. For extra-low carbon stainless steel, please use a gas mixture of Ar + 2% O₂ for welding.
F. Strictly remove oil, rust, moisture, and other impurities at the welding site before welding.

Ⅱ. TIG Welding (Power Polarity: DC- or AC)
A. Shielding gas flow rate requirements:
- 7–12 L/min when the welding current is between 100–200 A.
- 12–15 L/min when the welding current is between 200–300 A.
Damage to the gas delivery pipe that causes wet air to mix with the shielding gas will affect the properties of the welded joint.
B. The extension length of the tungsten electrode from the nozzle should be as short as possible. The arc length should be 1–4 mm (2–4 mm for carbon steel welding; 1–3 mm for low-alloy steel and stainless steel welding).
C. When the wind speed exceeds 1.0 m/s, windproof measures should be taken. Pay attention to ventilation to avoid harm to operators.
D. Strictly remove oil, rust, moisture, and other impurities at the welding site before welding.
E. It is recommended to use a DC power source with a steep drooping external characteristic, with the tungsten electrode as the positive pole.
F. When welding low-alloy steel with more than 1.25% Cr, the back side should also be shielded.
