1、High-strength steel electrodes are used for welding high-strength steel with deposited metal tensile strength ≥ 590MPa.
2、To avoid defects such as cracking in high-strength steel welding, preheating should be carried out before welding, and the preheating temperature shall be determined according to process qualification.
3、High-strength steel electrodes must be baked at temperatures above 350°C before welding (recommended 350~400°C × 1~2h). It is advisable to use them immediately after baking and follow the principle of "baking only what is needed", otherwise welding defects (such as pores, slag inclusions, cracks, deterioration of process performance, etc.) will occur. When using high-strength steel electrodes, welders should stay in the upwind position and strengthen ventilation to prevent harm from welding fumes to the body. The baking times for high-strength steel electrodes should preferably not exceed twice to avoid the coating becoming brittle and peeling off.
